As your baby gets older and more aware, you can no longer plonk their sleeping form down and get on with your day, while they nap the time away happily. Oh no, we’ve reached the age where interaction is a must.
I am already guilty of putting something on tv (usually some kind of YouTube singalong nursery rhyme, cocomelon is a favourite in our household) but sometimes the day is warm, the sun is out and you decide, fuck it, let’s go to a farm.
And away you go, baby bag packed with all the essential snacks and drinks needed for your little adventure.
Luckily, we live only a 20 minute walk away from the farm, easy peasy. We were wrong, yes google maps showed us the way, but fuck, it did not tell me it was uphill. That 20 minute walk turned into an uphill battle of sweat with the occasional gasp for breathe. Hills just ain’t my thing.
Arriving at the farm, we already knew there would be a couple sheep, a few goats, pigs and token birds. And a couple quid on goat feed later we went off on our saunter.
Even though it took us longer to walk to this damn farm than to actually look around, it was fantastic. Us as adults probably had more fun feeding the goats and sheep, laughing at the pigs and being big kids in general. I mean who doesn’t love feeding animals at a farm!? Childhood memories come flooding back, yet now you understand what your parents felt watching you. And while miss baby probably didn’t understand what was going on or what was in front of her or that were pretty sure one of the goats tried to eat her, the memories in those photographs are priceless. Serving as little nuggets of pure joy on one of those first few family days out, still reeling in the new parent glow and just doing everything you can to capture that moment forever.
Love the description of the walk uphill
Great start to your blogs
