Back in August 2019, me and the little one travelled down south from our little home in the North West to visit my mum in the London Area. It was an amazing trip, but fuck the journey was long.
At this point, miss baby was 7 months old, only a month into weaning,
but very much past the ‘sleep all the time’ phase. So piling her into a car, in her carseat with a boot filled with 100 million things that are needed for such a tiny human, and then my single suitcase, we charged headfirst into the 4 hour journey. Well what was meant to be 4 hours. including stops and traffic, it was a bit more than that. I lost my sanity quite quickly on that journey. Thankfully, she eventually gave in, and crashed for one of the many naps she would take in that car.
Finally after arriving its a few days of relaxing before we head into the centre of London for a few days to see the sights, go to the zoo and just be full blown tourists. I couldn’t bloody wait!
The day came, and off to London we went for a well deserved break and some sightseeing adventures.
It was so hot we could all barely function, I definitely did not pack for the weather, but we powered through, little miss spent a lot of time in very little, but the heat did not stop us having the time of our lives. As can be seen, she had a ball, the fish, touching the animals, playing in the mini water features for kids. The giggles that left that tiny humans mouth were amazing and melted the heart, just like the heat melting us!
We saw everything, Buckingham palace, London bridge, tower of London, Crown Jewels.. We just did not stop for 3 days. It got to a point everyone was jealous of miss baby, getting a free ride being pushed around in the pram, living in the lap of luxury, while our feet throbbed from what felt thousands of miles walked.
It was London that her second 2 teeth started cutting through, it was where she figured out how to drink from her straw cup all by herself. It was where she took a million naps that I will forever be jealous of. It was trip to remember forever.
The whole trip was just brilliant, from getting lost trying to find a park and ending up in some weird industrial business park, to the hours spent in the car traveling around the streets of London, to just chilling in the front room watching tv and enjoying a well earned glass of wine.
It was so much fun but getting home by the end of it, having my own bed, and getting the little human back into some kind of routine was just absolute heaven. Especially since the 4 hour car journey turned into 7 hours, a panic shitty nappy change in standstill traffic on the M6 and lots of coffee.
